Dr DP Lewis has been involved in the care and management of patients
with chronic fatigue syndrome [CFS] since 1985.
His
interest began when it became obvious that
there was considerable community misunderstanding about this illness and very little knowledge available on how to manage it.

order to provide effective treatment for his patients, who
now number more than 1500, Dr Lewis has established
a medical practice that is dedicated to the diagnosis
and treatment of CFS. |
 The
aim is to provide a place where people with CFS will receive
understanding and the most effective treatment. A vital component of
this care is to make careful observations of both the patient's
condition upon presentation and their subsequent progress. Statistics on cases are constantly being analysed by Dr Lewis to increase the understanding of this illness, to identify areas of concern and to develop treatment strategies which will build on the knowledge that has already been accumulated. |

Dr
Lewis is very much a part of the medical community involved
in the treatment of CFS, and continues to be informed from
well-established information sources including other medical
professionals, centres with established reputation and journals.
He is in communication with international and local specialists,
and attends conferences on CFS both in Australia and overseas.

Professor Kenny De Meirleir, a world renowned researcher and Professor of Physiology and Internal Medicine at the Free University of Brussels who assesses and treats 3,000 to 4,000 ME/CFS patients annually and has published more than 600 peer-reviewed papers, visits Melbourne regularly to examine patients and present his latest findings at seminars.
